Hi, I’m Alana Ward, graphic designer, illustrator, and founder of Concrete Creative.
Based in Cairns, Australia, I work with clients locally and around the world, delivering branding, graphic design and illustration across a diverse range of industries.
After more than a decade in the design industry, I've built a career spanning global hospitality brands, luxury service providers, financial institutions, tourism operators and small businesses. While the clients and industries may vary, every project is shaped by the same approach; pairing concrete direction with creative design to create work that is thoughtful, distinctive and built to last.
Today, Concrete Creative brings together the three creative disciplines that have shaped my career: graphic design, branding and illustration.
Graphic Design
For established businesses, I provide agile and dependable graphic design support across marketing collateral, publications, reports, presentations, digital assets and brand communications. Whether working on a single project or as an extension of an existing team, my goal is always the same: thoughtful design that helps businesses communicate clearly and consistently.
Branding
For service-based businesses, I create distinctive brand identities that reflect the quality of the work behind them. From strategy and visual identity through to brand guidelines and implementation, I help business owners build brands that feel professional, cohesive and genuinely representative of who they are.
Digital Illustration
From editorial commissions and marketing campaigns to branded content and custom artwork, I create bold, vibrant digital illustrations for commercial clients across a range of industries. My illustration style combines clean geometric forms, bright colour palettes and a playful sense of personality to create work that is both engaging and memorable.

As founder and creative director, I'm the primary point of contact on every project, working closely with clients to ensure a consistent, collaborative experience from start to finish. For larger projects or periods of high demand, I'm supported by a trusted network of freelance designers and creative specialists who help bring projects to life behind the scenes.
The result is a flexible studio model that combines personalised service, direct communication and experienced creative support — without the layers and overhead of a traditional agency.
